Let’s offer intelligence to your dumb environment: Smart Environments with Smart-M3 platform and wireless sensor networks.

I developed this project together with my friend and colleague Irene Donati for the Wireless Sensor Networks course held at the Electronic Engineering faculty of University of Bologna (Italy).

We created a Smart House deploying zigbee temperature sensors all around the environments and building a software infrastructure based on Smart-M3, which is a Semantic Web based platform for data sharing between hardware devices and software entities. Data is stored as a OWL knowledge base.

I will add more details as soon as possible, in the meanwhile you can read more about Smart-M3 here and download it here. The wireless sensor nodes are based on the Freescale MC1322x IC, I’m using the development kit.

Enjoy the presentation and don’t hesitate to contact me for further information and most of all for your feedback!
